We'll be retaining the voting scheme from the previous thread, for although there's not much choice in the campaign in terms of where to go next, we can still leave decisions such as mission rewards and character builds up to you guys. The characters in the Ork campaign are amazing and if you're never going to be playing Retribution for yourself I'd recommend checking that one out (it might change your mind), though fair warning you'll find the missions there are identical in layout to the ones in this Let's Play.

If you're new to Dawn of War 2 in general and want to check out the events of the game leading up to this one you can check out the previous thread here where Coolguye and I ran through the entirety of the Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising campaigns with audience participation making levelling and other decisions for us.Ī Let's Play of the Ork campaign in Retribution has been done by Niggurath, and you can find it on the LP Archives here.

We'll be playing once more as the Blood Ravens in order to finish up their campaign and wrap up the story arch that covers the entirety of the Dawn of War 2 timeline, and even some stuff that has been going on since the very first Dawn of War campaign. Overall Retribution is a fun campaign and just like with Dawn of War 2 and Chaos Rising I'll be playing the game as co-op with my good buddy Coolguye. This works well with some of the armies, less so with others. This takes a lot of the variety out, and so the story needs to carry the way. Levelling is streamlined, and though each campaign is different in terms of the race you're playing as and some of their mechanics the maps themselves are identical in layout and enemies no matter what. Of course, in order to change these things up there's a few things that have been lost. With the Imperial Guard added, that's six whole campaigns you can play through with different styles to the armies. There's less heroes to choose from but now a lot of the mechanics from multiplayer involving resources and building your forces with regular units comes into play, and the campaign can be played from the perspective of every single race in the game.
#DAWN OF WAR 2 RETRIBUTION RACES WINDOWS#
The biggest relief for some was that Windows Live was replaced with Steam, but the campaign sees a lot of changes mechanically too. The final standalone expansion for the Dawn of War 2 series, Retribution is a departure in some aspects from the way the vanilla game and its first expansion Chaos Rising did things.
